The history of Folgers coffee dates back to the 1600s, when the Folger family left their home in Norwich, England, and sailed to Massachusetts. James Folger, the founder of the company, traveled from Massachusetts to California in the 1850s with the hope of getting rich with gold mining. However, he ended up partnering with a coffee roaster instead. After the Civil War, Folger took over the company and renamed it J.
A. Folger & Co. In 1960, construction began on the largest coffee plant to date in New Orleans, which is still Where We Roast today. This shift in shipping routes from Central America to New Orleans made it one of the largest green coffee markets in the United States.
Part of The J's food and beverage division, M. Folgers roasts and manufactures its coffee beans in New Orleans, USA. But grains come from all over the world. In 1958, Instant Folgers were launched after time was taken to create one superior to the rest. This was tremendously successful and Folgers Coffee quickly became a national brand.
It is now the best-selling brand of coffee in the United States and can be found in most American homes. Folgers Coffee is a brand of instant, single-use ground coffee produced in the United States and sold there, as well as in Asia, Canada and Mexico. It has a variety of products including Simply Smooth, a stomach-friendly coffee, gourmet and flavored coffees, instant cappuccinos, coffee capsules and individual packs. Despite being a household name today, not many people know the story of how Folgers Coffee was invented. James Folger II took over the company in 1889 and was one of the first people to start testing beans himself to develop a standard of flavor for his coffee. He also agreed to bring samples of coffee and spices on his travels, taking orders from grocery stores along the way. In 1985, a Folgers TV ad called Peter Comes Home was particularly associated with Christmas holidays.
You can store Folger's instant coffee in the refrigerator or at room temperature but make sure that the lid is tightly closed.
